Public Works Seasonal Part Time Employee
The Fort Kent Public Works Department is looking to fill a new position for a seasonal part time employee. Applicants must have a Class B commercial driver’s license. We offer this employee a minimum of 35 hours a week for the winter season starting the first full week of November and continuing to the middle of April. We are flexible a few weeks on the start up date to avoid over lapping the applicant’s schedule. The ability to work some nights and weekends is a must. Some of the job duties that will be required from this employee are drive plow truck, plow the side walks with the sidewalk tractor, snow truck driver, some minor equipment maintenance and other regular public works daily duties. Experience in this type of work is an important factor that will weigh heavily in the hiring process. We are looking at offering an experienced candidate a wage per hour of $17.50. If this new job position proves to work out well it could be funded year after year and the employee could expect to get rehired year after year. The Fort Kent Police Department is seeking a qualified, motivated, and community-oriented individuals for the position of Police Officer. Requirements and Qualifications: Applicants must be certified as a full-time police officer by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy or have successfully completed Phase I and Phase II of The Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program. Applicants must be able to successfully complete medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, pass an extensive background investigation and may need to meet the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Physical Fitness Standard.

Wages: Rate of pay will be $20.34 up to $25.30 (includes sergeant position) plus night shift differential, overtime available, and educational stipend. A lateral entry at the Police Chief’s discretion is available based upon training and experience. Individuals with honorable military experience, an Associate’s Degree or greater or certified Maine Criminal Justice Academy graduates with current police certification are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who are certified law enforcement officers (blue pin) or those who have successfully completed all phases of the Maine Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program (green pin).
