PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR
The Town of Fort Kent has a full-time job opportunity for the position of Parks and Recreation Director. Applicants must enjoy working with people of all ages in a wide variety of sporting and other recreational activities.
Duties include, but are not limited to, planning, organizing, supervising, promoting, maintaining, evaluating, and actively working with the municipal recreation programs and activities.
Progressive experience in recreation leadership in a supervisory capacity, and graduation from a four-year college with accreditation in recreation leadership and management, physical education, or related field; First Aid and CPR required, Lifeguard Certification or WSI Certification preferred.
Coaching experience and general swimming pool maintenance, including the handling of chemicals is also desired.

The Fort Kent Police Department is seeking a qualified, motivated, and community-oriented individuals for the position of Police Officer. Requirements and Qualifications: Applicants must be certified as a full-time police officer by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy or have successfully completed Phase I and Phase II of The Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program. Applicants must be able to successfully complete medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, pass an extensive background investigation and may need to meet the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Physical Fitness Standard.

Wages: Rate of pay will be $20.34 up to $25.30 (includes sergeant position) plus night shift differential, overtime available, and educational stipend. A lateral entry at the Police Chief’s discretion is available based upon training and experience. Individuals with honorable military experience, an Associate’s Degree or greater or certified Maine Criminal Justice Academy graduates with current police certification are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who are certified law enforcement officers (blue pin) or those who have successfully completed all phases of the Maine Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program (green pin).

Town of Fort Kent Public Works
Full Time Plow Truck Driver/Laborer
The Fort Kent Public Works Department is currently seeking applications for a full-time plow truck driver/ equipment operator. Applicant must have at least a class B Maine driver license and mechanical skills for moderate repairs on equipment. Experience in plowing roadways along with mechanical skills repairing trucks and equipment is preferred.
Applicant must be willing to work weekends and all hours of the night as needed. Job duties include but are not limited to truck driver, tractor operator, traffic control such as flagging and some physical labor.
Applicant must work well in a small team environment and be willing do physical labor when needed.
Ability to maintain and service equipment operated is required. Applicant must be willing to train in all workplace safety trainings.
Must be willing to work with the public in a safe and respectful manner.
Applicant must be willing and able to pass a drug and alcohol test prior to being hired.
The Town of Fort Kent Public Works employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Individual to start working mid to late July 2021.
